  • How do I get a teaching job in China?

  • Am I qualified to teach in China?

    A passport holder from: the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, Australia or South African. (due to visa regulations).
    Graduate (of any subject) with a bachelor degree.
    Clean background check.
    Have a TEFL/TESOL/CELTA/TESL certification .

  • Do I need a TEFL certificate to teach in China?

    You need to have a teaching credentials (TEFL/TESOL/CELTA/ PGCE, etc.).
    Candidates graduated from major in education do not need teaching credentials. 

    Reference letters issued by the previous employers in China and overseas, which covers recent 2 years teaching experiences could instead of teaching certificate.

  • Do I need to have a degree to teach in China?

    Candidates need to have a bachelor degree of any subject. 

  • What do you need to teach English abroad?

    1. Desire to work abroad and enjoy teaching English in China.

    2. Capital preparation for coming.

    3. Documents collection for work visa application.

  • How far in advance can I apply to work in China?

    Usually you need to apply for a job by at least one month in advance since it takes time to get the visa and work permit to work legally in China.  It's recommended to apply for a job by 2-3 months in advance even up to a year in advance

  • I don’t have any teaching experience, can I still apply?

    Yes. Previous teaching experience is preferred but not a must, and our awesome academic department also offer professional trainings for all of our teachers.

  • I can’t speak Chinese. Is that a problem?

    You can teach English in China without knowing how to speak Chinese. Students expect to get immersed in English during class and so speaking Chinese is actually discouraged in class. Often there is the option of having a Chinese teaching assistant to help with giving instructions and translating if need be, especially for young learner classes.
    Some schools provide Mandarin Chinese lessons and plenty of support for new arrivals. It is relatively easy to set up extra Chinese lessons and there are a plenty of resources available for self study, if you wish to.

  • How much are teachers paid in China?

    In China most of the local teachers in public schools under high school level are paid about 6000 RMB per month. Local teachers above high school level e.g. colleges or universities are a bit higher around RMB 10000 for the professors. The payment varies in different regions in China. Echo Education pays the hired foreign teachers would range from RMB 8000 to RMB 16000 depending on the job positions and work locations.

  • What are needed by Echo when I decide to go on with the interview?
